My purpose and principles in life are very much guided my passion for current environmental and societal issues. The most notably exemplified in my decision to pursue a degree in human geography where I have been able to learn in depth geographical knowledge concerning environmental and social issues. To extend such knowledge, beyond my course, I have also attended a Carbon Literacy Training and Sustainability workshop. Key transferable skills I have been able to develop include team-working, time-management and written communication.My passion has also directed me in my volunteering experience where I have volunteered at a care home and as an environmental volunteer for the Leicester City Council. In the former, I was tasked to spent time entertaining the residents where I have been able to develop empathetic listening skills. For the latter, I was involved in a range of physical activities and projects with other volunteers tending to the local environment. Not only have I been able to develop key skills, I enjoyed the work I did because it feels meaningful to me.I have spent a week as a teaching assistant at a primary school with the responsibility over helping the teacher I was assigned to in preparing materials needed for the lessons and to help students if they were struggling with the learning materials. This experience combined with my volunteer experience allowed me to communicate with a wide demographic that has helped in developing my interpersonal skills. My main future aspiration is to contribute and make a positive impact on the environment and society. I believe that the environment and sustainability sector is where I will be able to achieve this and where my skills, experience and passion can best utilised
