My education is making me who I am. After graduating with a BS and MA in Mathematics Education, I began developing my creative and analytical thinking skills while I was teaching accelerated mathematics to gifted students. I got my professional teaching license and had my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction to be better at my teaching job and soon realized I wanted to learn more about science, technology, engineering and mathematics , which was to start a PhD journey in STEM at The Ohio State University. Taking research courses, working on multiple group research projects, working as a graduate assistant, supervising prospective math teachers were only a few of what I have accomplished during my PhD. In my most recent role, I was able to utilize my strong focus and planning skills by defending my dissertation proposal to become a PhD candidate in STEM. What I enjoyed most during my PhD journey was our weekly roundtable meetings via which we published multiple papers as a team.Then, I wanted to learn more about technology and engineering by enhancing my coding skills. Tech Elevator was a great fit for this. I started to teach myself programming concepts online, and completed the Java coding bootcamp at Tech Elevator.Since then, I have completed my intership as product engineering intern at Immuta. Learned the full circle of software development. It was a great decision to go back and finish my PHD since my dream job found me while I was finishing up my dissertation.I am a data literacy advocate right now and couldn’t have done this job without neither of my formal nor informal education.
