ADA TOLLA is an architect, co-founder and principal of LOT-EK. She studied architecture in Naples, Italy at the Universita’ degli Studi Federico II and completed her post-graduate in New York at Columbia University, Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. In 1993 Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano established LOT-EK.LOT-EK is an award-winning design studio that makes sustainable and soulful architecture through the transformation of industrial infrastructural objects. We make the ordinary extraordinary. LOT-EK’s projects range from installations with artists; through townhouses, and houses for families; through cultural projects for clients as The Whitney Museum of Art and The Guggenheim Museum. LOT-EK’s international practice has developed projects from their hometown of New York, around the world from Queensland, Australia, through Huangshan, China to London, England. LOT-EK’s work has been featured in publications from The New York Times to Dwell. LOT-EK Foldable #1 was acquired by MoMA for its Architecture collection and it is currently on display at the Museum of Modern Art in NY.LOT-EK’s second monograph, O+O: OBJECTS + OPERATIONS, was recently published by The Monacelli Press.Besides heading her practice, Ada has been teaching at the graduate level for the past 20 years. She is a professor at Columbia University’s GSAPP and lectures at major universities and cultural institutions worldwide.In 2011, Ada Tolla was recognized as USA Booth Fellow of Architecture & Design by United States Artists (USA).
