Verified existing data and collected new data about various properties throughout the City of Kingston. While most of this data is collected in the field, widespread online mapping software such as Google Maps/ Earth and Bing Maps were also used to make determinations on whether planned improvements had been executed and in what time frame they were completed, which is helpful in determining whether a building permit was valid while the project was executed. This data is then transposed into paper files and electronic databases (RPS: Real Property System and Municity), and used by the assessor to make adjustments to assessed property values.

Developed a Transportation Action Plan as part of an overall effort to fund projects which strengthen the City’s transportation network. Created the City’s first overarching Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and subsequently organized a meeting of the Complete Streets Advisory Council to solicit comments and edits before making the documents available to the public. Generated content explaining ongoing local transportation projects for the City’s webpage.Digitized sidewalks using orthographic photos of the City of Kingston and ArcGIS 10.1/10.4 in order to begin a sidewalk inventory, as part of the City’s transition plan towards ADA compliance. Responsible for presenting new information to the Mayor and City Engineer, and host at public meetings on the City’s transportation projects. Created a draft of the fee schedule which would result from the implementation of a Sidewalk Improvement District.

Conducted research projects under the direct supervision of the UCAT Director to assist in the implementation of new policies and procedures. Analyzed materials for FTA reviews, contracts regarding interagency partnerships and provided recommendations based on national best practices.

As part of a partnership with the Cornell Local Roads Program’s (CLRP) Summer Internship Program, under the supervision of the City of Kingston Department of Public Works Superintendent, evaluations were performed on all 86 linear miles of road. The evaluation on pavement condition and importance of each road was input into a prioritization software created by CLRP. This software was used as a tool to create a 5 year prioritization plan of pavement improvement projects, aligning the suggestions of the software with the City’s commitment to ADA compliance.

Worked alongside the NYC Council’s Transportation Committee Chair Ydanis Rodriguez and his staff on initiatives including: Car-Free Day, Citi Bike (bike sharing) expansion, and transit fare concessions for low income households. Responsible for preparing talking points for Mr. Rodriguez, analyzing sociodemographic data, and liaise with staff of other Council Members regarding current legislation, and assist in events planning.

Participated in Summer Youth Employment Internships in the Summers of 2012 and 2013. Created a walkable audio tour commissioned by the NYC parks department. I researched the local history and environment to prepare reports and the scripts for the tour in English and Spanish. Facilitated early childhood education programming for children ages 2-4. In the Summer of 2013, I was tasked with creating a docent manual, which I completed National Research for, and by completing the manual, produced a report of my research. In both summers, I assisted with general office duties: answering phones, making copies,etc.
