    Bronx, Ny
Acknowledged for getting the school construction tarp (there for several years) covering the Walton Campus pulled down expeditiously once elected PA President of Celia Cruz HS and Founder of Walton Campus PA Presidents Council.I enrolled all the Walton Campus Parents Associations, community organizations, local city officials, obtained media & TV coverage and together as a team we rallied at city hall with parents and students to obtain our campus goals. After written correspondence and media coverage I got l the heads of the city, to meet with the parents at Walton, which entailed the following: Deputy Mayor-Walcott, Department of Education, School Construction Authority and Chief of NYCPD. After leading this meeting, negotiations led to the elimination of severe gang problems, the installation of security cameras, the expansion of school space and total campus reconstruction. Residents were pleased with the results as it improved the beautification and value of their community.I created two Annual Borough-wide Parent Empowerment Conferences with the Parents Associations leaders where we had huge turn outs from the entire borough. The attainment of great presenters, local city officials, Office of the Borough President and the countless workshops set up to empower parents and parent leaders was a great success. My marketing plan entailed Bronx Net coverage,Title I information packets and enrolling our District 10 Superintendent to inform parents/staff district wide.As PA President I always had a great turnout of parents attending empowerment workshops. I enjoyed sharing my methods with my fellow PA Leaders and as a team we all flourished.Awarded plaques for outstanding achievement from the Walton Campus, Celia Cruz HS and Teaching & Professions High School. Several school principals continued to acknowledge us as their greatest team of PA Leaders for how we supported them and created such great results in such a short period of time.

PS/MS 20 - PARENTS' ASSOCIATION CONSULTATNT & ADVOCATEPrior to this school being built I was an Advocate for it and was on the campus the day of the ribbon cutting ceremony. Later on as a parent, I became a volunteer to help the leaders of the PTA;As a member of the School Leadership Team I addressed Curriculum Issues & Safety Measures.Successfully obtained proper safety & fire codes regulations for the siteThen I was placed on the Schools' Auditing TeamFUNDRAISED FOR SCHOOL PROMThe school was not going to give the students a prom as their was such a lack of funds. I obtained the following donations from the community: a lavish ballroom space, decorations and free limo service. Norwood News and News 12HANDLED DISASTER ON 9/11 On 9/11 the school PTA leaders called me if they could pick me up at home to help handle the crisis for the staff seemed like they were in shock. They were also concerned about all the children who were still not picked up and would I come to help organize. As a past Educational Leader I met with the Principal, the AP and staff for 5 minutes and as they were stunned, I gave some concise quick solutions. I told them I want to separate the children into the largest cozy classroom, to bring food & a TV with a video to entertain them. I asked that only one staff member come in the room to pick up one child at a time to escort to the parent as they arrived. The goal was to assure them that they were safe, fed and in a comfortable setting and that their parents were on their way and only delayed for the subways were running late. It was fortunate that all the parents came and that the staff was able to leave and find their own family members.Recognition Award given by the PTA & School Superintendent
