As the AP of Advanced Academics, I am focused on driving the academic and student culture outcomes for students, particularly within Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

As the interim APO during the second semester of the 23-24 school year, I was responsible for managing all operational systems -- namely attendance, safety, and finance. I was challenged with being a bridge-builder to School Support Partners (Child Nutrition, Finance Team, Transportation, IT, etc.) and often had to find creative solutions to complex problems. While my time in this role was short, I sharpened my time and project management skills by juggling many competing priorities.

As the Dean of Advanced Academics, I specialized in instructional coaching, professional development, assessment coordination, academic progress monitoring + data analysis, and school culture.

As a grade level chair, I supported the Class of 2021 throughout a school year in which over 80% of the senior class was learning remotely. I helped to plan and coordinate the first graduation ceremony during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a consultant for KIPP's network-wide curriculum development team, I have developed and refined the curriculum, assessments, and resources for AP English Language & Composition which includes student-facing materials and teacher-facing exemplars. In this role, I have also facilitated curriculum trainings for new and experienced teachers as well as school leaders to help them internalize the materials I've created.

During my time as a teacher at Grandview High School, I taught 11th grade English and served as the National Honor Society advisor. It was here that I discovered my passion for bridging the digital divide for students with less-developed digital literacy skills.

During my first two years of teaching, I taught four courses as the sole English teacher: English I, English II, English III, and Bridge to College English. It was during these two years that I first realized the importance of differentiating instruction, developing strong exemplars, and above all else, putting the humanity in my students above their reading and writing skills.

In the Economics advising department, I worked with a large volume of students in a fluctuating, fast-paced environment in which my primary responsibilities included fostering a welcoming atmosphere and being a knowledgeable peer resource. I helped Economics majors, especially new and transfer students, navigate course schedules and feel more at ease about registration in the face of highly sought-after classes.
