About Adam Frey
Many have asked me what energy engineering is, and my answer is that it is important to remember energy is the integral of power across time - what I spend most of my time doing is modelling systems to see how much energy they will either generate or consume over a year. The systems modelled range from solar PV to cogeneration turbines to HVAC and pools. I have been involved in sustainability both professionally and as a volunteer. First as a Solar PV Project Manager and Designer for Ottawa Solar Power, Ottawa's longest running Solar PV design and installation company. Secondly, as a junior designer for HVAC Design Experts helping to improve the efficiency of residential HVAC systems. During this time I also sat as an advisor to the Ottawa Sustainability Fund which funded 8 projects in the city while I was there.At J.L. Richards, I joined an experienced team that has worked on significant renewable projects such as the Drake Landing Solar Community and independent engineering for solar photovoltaic projects across North America. Building on my experience with designing energy systems, joining J.L. Richard's multidisciplinary team broadened my knowledge of renewables to work on larger and more complex systems.All this to say I am inspired by the call for sustainability, interested in complex systems and will learn quickly and professionally to be a part of a team to provide solutions. With a background in both engineering and philosophy I can participate in diverse teams working on complex problems for a company with vision.
