In my study of the Arts, I have developed a strong connection to the concept of self-development. The relationship and understanding you have of yourself is a direct reflection of your association to the surrounding society. The representation that I find most suitable for this expression is the human form. What better way is there to breach the barriers between your own emotions and a distanced civilization, than to isolate these emotions, and observe them through human expression. I also feel that the only way to reach a public that has been alienated from the arts over the course of time is to present forms and imagery to which the common populous can relate. Not to denounce the relevance of contemporary art, but the conceptualist movement, that the vast majority of society shunned due to its ambiguity, has veered so far from the traditions of art that evidently even the artists themselves are left confused and misguided from art’s original representation of beauty. My creations revisit this concept of beauty through the elegance of the figure in an attempt to bring human form back into the contemporary. Through my art, I attempt to reinstate a sense of mysticism that contemporary methodology seems to lack. The imagery that I utilize and intend to develop recalls the forgotten myths and legends of Greek, Roman, Nordic, and other various cultures, in order to embody the significance that these tales once held. Through the revitalization of these mystical tales that birthed culture, our society will develop a renewed appreciation not only for the arts, but for life in its entirety.Specialties: cast bronze and iron, mold making, steel forging, stone and wood carving, creative utilitarian wares
