My responsibilities as the GPSOC Trainer and Project Lead include training all new incoming Security Operations Center trainees, and management of all Global security related projects. I am in charge of ensuring all GPSOC Operators are up to date with current Symantec Security Operations Policies, and development of training procedures to ensure competency with the all of our required tools. I develop and monitor training and proficiency within the GPSOC and create and test our operators on our policies and responses to crisis situations. I also compile large amounts of data from crisis incidents and theft reports with metrics into presentations for use by Senior Directors of the GSO. I also work as a first contact for the GSO management when there is an incident that requires immediate security response to mitigate risks to both Symantec employees and property. These include crisis incidents (terrorist attack) near Symantec sites, or where our employees are located, or natural disasters (flooding) which employees require immediate assistance for their personal safety. The GPSOC will reach out to these employees and ensure that they receive assistance as soon as possible from local incident response teams. I also research possible impacts to Symantec employees and property and communicate with GSO management the potential risk and worm with multiple teams to mitigate risk. Any and all security related incidents are investigated through our office which I lead the team to thoroughly research in our security system data, including surveillance systems access control systems, and trend identification from the data. I received an award for employee of the 2nd Quarter and was promoted to Shift Supervisor. As shift supervisor my responsibilities include access control for the entire property, regulating other officer’s activities, training new officers, as well as restocking all first aid/first responder kits.
