I completed my second UBC Engineering Co-op term at Coast Mountain Bus Co. in Burnaby, BC.At CMBC, I worked closely with a small team of mechanical and electrical engineers to provide engineering support for a fleet of approximately 1,500 transit buses operating in the Metro Vancouver area.

I completed my first UBC Engineering Co-op term as a Maintenance & Reliability Engineering Co-op Student at Teck Coal's Elkview Operations.In this role, I assumed responsibilities primarily related to maintaining the mine’s fleet of heavy mining equipment, including shovels, drills, haul trucks, graders, loaders, dozers, and excavators. I also had the opportunity to:- Utilize SolidWorks extensively to perform finite element analyses and produce detailed designs for projects such as stands and lifting devices, mobile work platforms, and equipment enhancements- Gain valuable project management and field experience by taking on a lead role in the re-commissioning of parked haul trucks, which involved daily visits to maintenance shops and field operation locations- Work closely with both staff and union employees to control the cost of maintenance projects by taking part in the budgeting process and identifying economical solutions to areas of inefficiency- Plan, organize, and execute maintenance projects and create purchase and work orders through the use of enterprise resource planning software- Promote and actively participate in the company’s strong health and safety culture

- Operated an industrial-level CNC machine with accuracy and efficiency- Optimized the G-code programs for various products utilizing both Alphacam and Linux CNC software- Enhanced the design of numerous existing products, improving their appearance and functionality while maintaining profit margins- Packaged and shipped an extensive variety of wood products to customers- Utilized an assortment of power tools, including table saws, miter saws, drill presses, and bed sanders, and learned how to operate them in a safe and efficient manner

I provide regular support as a Farm Hand to my own family's blueberry/chicken farm, as well as my neighbours' farms in the surrounding area. Typical duties include:- Collection of blueberries and blackberries to be sold at market- Mowing, harrowing, and trimming pastures, fields, and residential lawns using farm tractors and lawn mowers- Utilizing farm tractors to bale hay and stack it in barns or load it onto trucks- Splitting, cutting, and trimming branches and logs using splitting mauls, axes, and chainsaws- Performing regular maintenance on machinery, including oil changes, greasing, cleaning, and adjustments- Caring for animals (horses, chickens, alpacas, cows, etc.), including feeding, watering, and cleaning of shelters
