Legal aid policy

Outline:Coaching universal credit claimants into employment, ensuring that they keep to their claimant commitments and providing advice and assistance. Adapting to changing circumstances, I have focused on removing specific barriers to employment (eg. homelessness, care leavers, ex-offenders etc) and taking the appropriate action to remove barriers and support claimants into work.

A voluntary position in the Freedoms and Justice Team collaborating on a recent policy initiative. With Amnesty’s official report on the topic still to be published, I helped to produce research and contribute to the drafting of this document. Working alongside the Law and Policy department introduced me to the practicalities of working within a fast paced environment.

Outline:An eight-month work experience project alongside a practical academic module. My team worked in partnership with the Transnational Institute to complete a research project into cultural rights and practices, with an emphasis on a local community in Morocco. Project time was limited on top of my studies, developing my time management
