As part of the change management team, I am reviewing the projects current operations and work force management to facilitate the next stage of operations. Through the implementation of agile workflow solutions, the project will be better prepared to achieve its strategic goals.

In this role I was responsible for the construction of the Southern Treatment Area (STA). This package includes the erection of one of the largest scaffold roofing structures in Europe, a conveyor processing unit, and areas of self delivery. My role primarily covers the quality assurance of the temporary works, as well as managing the program and commercial responsibilities of the subcontractors.

Since graduating (with a First w/ Hons), I have worked as a graduate site engineer on the West Ruislip Babcock site from November 2021. So far I am been honing my surveying skills and working hard to develop my engineering judgement and knowledge. This role offers a great opportunity to gain a wide amount of experience towards my chartership in the future and undertake my own personal development.

My second placement, as an undergraduate environmental engineer on Thames Tideway, started as an 8 week but extended to 12 months with part-time flexibility from August 2020 to October 2021. On this placement I worked on my own to collect data and perform analysis on material exports & imports across various sites on the project for the verification report. This taught me the following valuable lessons: how to effectively collect and record data taken form archives and primary sources, communicate effectively with individuals I didn't know to find the exact numbers I require, understand the construction steps involved on a site from start to finish, and how to improve my work iteratively to achieve a higher standard with more flexibility.

The first placement was on the A465 Heads of Valleys project as a site engineer for 10 weeks in the summer of 2019. My main area of works was the construction of a junction and maintenance road parallel to the dual carriage-way. Here I developed my skills in surveying using the EDM, laser level, and GPS. Additionally I developed my understanding of highway construction methods for roads, edgings, slabs etc, as well as logistics; as I began to form my fundamental practical engineering knowledge as I was studying at university.
