When working as an Assistive Technology Officer, it was my job to assess the needs of vulnerable adults in Adult Social Services with complex needs and undertake preventative work in order to reduce the need for care or services. This involved working with adults, families, carers and communities to help make informed decisions about their future and enabling them to clarify and express their needs. I was also responsible for maintaining productive links with colleagues in the NHS with the aim of integrating Telecare and Assistive Technology provision wherever possible. As well as this I have developed and managed a network of Assistive Technology Champions to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills throughout the organisation. Not only did I manage the team of champions within Adult Social Services I also provided support for 'experts by experience' and ensure that they are providing an appropriate service on behalf of Telford and Wrekin Council.

This job entailed recovering debt from clients who had failed to pay their personal contribution towards their care package. I would be required to manage a case load of clients who I was responsible for recovering their debt. I would have to contact clients, family members or advocates and discuss the financial situation they were in and support them to then start a reasonable payment plan and monitor this. I would also attend weekly management meetings where social workers would bring cases to be agreed for care packages, I would assist in the decision making.
