I later moved to the Communications area, working to deliver broadband through the MANs (Metropolitan Area Networks) and with special responsibility for North/South fibre connectivity & INTERREG. I contributed to North/South working groups under INTERREG, InterTradeIreland and a Donegal taskforce.I co-ordinated the Department's Broadband Demand survey, distilling the responses and proeparing an innovative & creative response paper, which was used as the basis for Minister Dempsey's 2006 keynote Broadband Demand speech. I also conceptualised and scripted a Broadband Awareness TV Campaign, explaining what broadband was, which aired from July 2006. I secured funding from Interreg, from the regulator and from IBEC/TIF to fund the campaign which helped deliver higher broadband take up figures at a time when we lagged in take up tables.In addition, I was involved in the corporate governance of the Digital Hub (DHDA) as it moved out from the aftermath of MediaLabEurope's departure before moving on promotion to the NPWS.
