I managed the publications process for one of Pew’s most successful initiatives, the Public Safety Performance Project (PSPP). This included working with researchers and senior staff members to advance the national conversation on criminal justice reform through the writing and editing of a range of materials—reports, briefs, Op-Eds, etc.—for both general and political audiences. I also handled approvals for all PSPP editorial content, enforced deadlines, reconciled competing priorities, and acted as the project’s editorial liaison with other Pew departments.

I handled all editorial functions for New York City’s largest business improvement district, helping to bolster the organization’s mission of continuing to revitalize Lower Manhattan after the September 11th attacks. I oversaw the writing and editing for the quarterly magazine, annual report, e-newsletter, blog posts, research reports, speeches, Op-Eds, and a variety of other published material. I also acted as press secretary on a number of occasions, including the 2015 New York City ticker-tape parade for the U.S. Women’s soccer team (an event the Alliance helped organize).

"A Mighty Purpose" tells the dramatic story of former UNICEF leader Jim Grant, the greatest children’s advocate in history. Grant, who led UNICEF until his death in 1995, launched a movement that saved tens of millions of children’s lives and profoundly altered the face of global health and international development. The book was excerpted in the Daily Beast and reviewed favorably in Kirkus Reviews, The New York Review of Books, The Wall Street Journal, Booklist, and Health Affairs magazine.

As the leader of the editorial team for UNICEF USA, I oversaw the writing, reporting, and editing of the quarterly national magazine, the annual report, e-appeals, blog posts, brochures, and a wide array of other printed and digital material. I wrote feature stories for the magazine as well as speeches and Op-Eds for the organization’s president and celebrity ambassadors. On a quick deadline, I helped draft a program proposal that secured a $110 million project. I managed a team of two writers and one copyeditor and supervised four editorial interns. On field visits to Angola, Swaziland, Honduras, and Cambodia, I chronicled UNICEF programs in print and on video.

Wrote an award-winning series on the need for more security at area chemical plants and refineries as well as a Pulitzer-nominated series on the lingering effects of the Khmer Rouge genocide in Philadelphia’s Cambodian community. Served as the paper's lead New York City reporter during the Blackout of 2003 and broke a story that helped police solve a missing persons case and that led to improvements in the handling of unidentified bodies in the city morgue.

As a freelancer for the New York Times, I wrote cover stories for “The City” section about sandhogs excavating New York City's third water tunnel, an idiosyncratic labor organizer, counterfeit investigators in Chinatown, and the pre-dawn release of Rikers Island inmates in Queens Plaza. Wrote a range of other pieces, including a story about the reconfiguration of New York City subway lines following the attacks of September 11th, 2001.

Wrote six chapters of "Rudy! An Investigative Biography of Rudolph Giuliani" (Basic Books, July, 2000) by Wayne Barrett. Researched and edited several other chapters.

Wrote "A Blessing Over Ashes: The Remarkable Odyssey of My Unlikely Brother" (William Morrow, June, 2000), a memoir about my relationship with my Cambodian foster brother. The book was selected among the best nonfiction books of 2000 by The Los Angeles Times and cited in The Washington Post’s 2000 “Book World Raves.”
