I'm a Teacher Librarian currently working in the Thiele Library @Thielelibrary (Golden Grove High School's library on a campus shared by Pedare and Gleeson College). I am passionate about teaching inquiry and research skills along with current and future learning information literacy skills. I have taught a range of learning areas across secondary school, particularly English and Humanities, with an interest in Australian History. I am interested in valid and authentic assessment practices, and I completed a Certified Education Assessor course through the Institute of Educational Assessors (SACE Board) in 2016. I have the been heavily involved in the implementation, teaching and assessment of the Research Project, and more recently in the new version piloting the new subject Activating Identities and Futures (a compulsory SACE subject in South Australia that focuses on developing student agency). Outside of my teaching role, I am a dedicated husband and father to our son. I am also a keen long distance recreational runnner and have in the last 13 years, completed 3 marathons, and 13 Ultramarathons. I am a retired football umpire (with the SANFL) and still enjoy watching most sports, in particular following the Adelaide Crows in the AFL and Adelaide United in the A-League, all of which I share on X (formerly known as Twitter) @adamjfitzgerald.
