As Friends of the Chicago River’s planning director, my focus is on promoting the Chicago River system as a blue-green corridor, guiding river edge development, advocating for a connected river edge trail system, collaborating on nature-based stormwater solutions, and engaging with river edge communities to promote nature and climate resilient land use policies. I have a unique skill set in the environmental advocacy sector having previously worked as a private sector consultant on projects ranging from small town waterfronts to strategic citywide policy changes. I have represented the interests of municipal government, private developers, community organizations, conservation non-profits, and Environmental Justice advocacy groups. In all my roles, I take pride in my ability to facilitate positive collaborations within teams and external coalitions to implement ambitious plans using creativity and innovative thinking that is supported by a practical and realistic understanding of the steps it takes to achieve those goals.
