- Design, commission, and support Ford Motor Company facility conveyor systems (Body, Trim, and Paint) that utilize SEW MoviFits, Allen-Bradley ArmorStarts, PowerFlex VFDs, PanelViews, and RSLogix 5000 PLCs.- Responsible for developing and implementing design of Ford NextGen architecture in electrical drawings, PLC programs, and PanelView applications for Body Shop systems at multiple Ford plants (LAP, KTP, and MAP).- Perform voltage drop calculations, sizing of fuses/motor OLs, and other calculations for Ford electrical panels.- Continual effort to establish training documents for Ford NextGen PanelViews and PLC safety logic.- Configure/program Assembly Information System (AIS) stations for error proofing at Ford Motor Company. - Supervise/direct union skilled trades in electrical/mechanical installations for projects at Ford Motor Company.- Spearhead development of various engineering tools to order materials more efficiently, perform electrical calculations, and to quicken PanelView programming time during the engineering phase of controls projects.

While at Johnan America, Inc. I received the opportunity to go to the Nissan North America, Inc. vehicle plant in Smyrna, TN as a Trim & Chassis Maintenance technician. It was here where my controls skill set got taken to another level. Nissan is a big advocate for multi-craft maintenance and has extreme expectations for production throughput and short repair times. The Maintenance group was tasked with improvement projects to increase production throughput, minimize downtime, and improve the overall manufacturing process.The PLC controls were a combination of Allen-Bradley (RSLogix 500/5000) and GE (Proficy Machine Edition). Additionally, the HMI software used was a combination of: Allen-Bradley PanelViews (700s/1500s) and GE Cimplicity. The entire plant’s quality system (FIFO) is driven via GE Cimplicity; keeping track of vehicle sequence numbers and all quality poke yokes for production processes. We were required to maintain these quality systems. The area coverage for our department was split into 4 areas: Final Lines (SUV and Sedan), Chassis & Underbody, Pre-Delivery, and the seat delivery system.

Just before I graduated from BCTC, I started working as an Industrial Maintenance/Tool & Die technician at Johnan America, Inc. in Bardstown, KY. They are a Tier 1 supplier for Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Subaru specializing in window regulators.- Perform repairs/improvements on a 400-ton Aida progressive stamping press, injection molding machines, resistance welding stations, roll formers, production sunroof line, and window regulator assembly lines (Tier 1) for Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi.- Implemented improvement projects directed at increasing throughput and minimizing downtime. - Operate/troubleshoot pick and place robots (Denso and Yamaha). - Machine faceplates, tooling mounts, and electrodes for resistance welding jigs & fixtures.- Support tool & die to make improvements, adjustments, and emergency repairs on dies and roll formers. - Troubleshoot & analyze operational issues on equipment & machinery with Omron PLCs.

- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics, blueprint schematics and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gages. - Perform precision work on Akebono brake dies/punches and piston palettes.- Machine and fabricate parts to specifications using machine tools such as Mazak CNC lathes, Hurco CNC milling machines, Bridgeport mills, benders, grinders, and heat treat ovens.
