Carillion Plc / Skyblue Solutions

Sheffield, United Kingdom

Skyblue solutions gave me a chance to work in the recruitment industry as a talent sourcing specialist, in this role I was taken out of my comfort zone and thrown into a new role which required the use of existing skills in a completely new way. Whilst here I have been given the opportunity to work on multiple different projects, finding people for varied roles from phone operative to high level multi-skilled engineers. A rewarding role where I had many tasks from CV sifting, phone and face to face interviews as well as client management. I dived head first into this role and have been able to improve my planning, organisational, communicational and team work skills.

My roles varied depending on the tasks at hand, I was responsible for artwork used in multiple titles as well as ensuring that the quality of the products were of an exceptionally high quality, which played some part in the last two titles I worked on reaching number one in the sales charts on Sony Vita and PC. The company worked with Sega of Europe as well as Sports Interactive and me and the rest of the team had to convey our thoughts and ideas in weekly conference calls. This role helped me mature as we had many technical issues on one of our titles and allowed me to deal with problems in a effective and professional manner.

Facilities Administrator

Sheffield

It allowed me to work in a different environment and improve my ability to work in a team.

It Phone Support

Dixons Group

Sheffield, United Kingdom

At the Dixon’s group call centre I worked as a tech guy, answering calls from customers regarding updates on the progress of repairs and also giving technical advice into the hardware side of computers and televisions. I found the job quite taxing because of the large range of technical enquiries and problems I received but it really has increased my knowledge, so I feel confident in the hardware and software side of computers. I was able to work on my customer services as some calls were very challenging as the customers where sometimes quite irate due to late repairs or possible missing equipment, and it was up to me to try and pacify the customers as well as giving them good advice and a great service. This job taught me a lot about customer services and how to deal with the general public and is something I would like to build more on in the future.

Nov 2010 - Feb 2011

Test / Design

Devils Details

Sheffield, United Kingdom

I had a temporary contract that lasted for two months in the games industry, where I mainly provided test support for the product but also had to work on the overall design and back end documentation. The company was working to very tight deadlines that had to be upheld in order to keep in good reputation with a major publisher (I am currently under a non disclosure agreement, and can’t mention names). I had to ensure that the game was at a good enough state to be sent to external test and that all the documentation matched the flow and playability of the product. Whist working at Devils Details I was tested in many ways, I had to work long hours and weekends to ensure that the product was up to scratch and was at a state where the publishers were happy with the progress. I also had to correspond with external producers to make sure that their creative inputs and designs were being implemented in the correct places to a high standard. I found the hours the main challenge as some weeks it was 7 days a week with long hours, but it was worth it as the product really started to look like the finished article as I was finishing my temporary contract.

Aug 2010 - Oct 2010

Service Support

Zoo Games / Zushi Games

Sheffield, United Kingdom

I worked at Zushi Games for 2 years and during that time I had a many different and very varied responsibilities, I was in charge of customer support both in email and telephone queries which helped me greatly develop my communication skills further. Other tasks included creating video footage of our existing titles and editing in Adobe Premiere, the videos were then used in sales meetings to show the quality of the products to buyers, also part of my job was to work on the design of some of our titles from design to development, as well as looking at the test cycles and NOA/NOE lot check process. In the last year of the job I was tasked with creating a concept submission guide to Sony Games for our newest title on the PSN, as well as working on Xbox Concept approval.

Sheffield, United Kingdom

While working for the council I have gained extensive experience in customer service. My main duties involve working a busy reception for the whole of the parks service, dealing with both internal and external enquiries on the telephone and face-to-face. As a result I have learnt to deal with the general public and partner organisations in a professional and confident manner. I have also gained experience in general admin duties. This requires me to prioritise my workload, so I can work around my time spent on reception. I have gained experience in filing, sorting and organizing as well as scanning and faxing documents. I worked in a team that supports the parks department, dealing with all purchase orders, this involves working on the One World Financial System, from the start of the ordering process through to receipt, invoice and payment stage.
