As a community dietitian, I use my nutritional education and culinary background to take a client-centered approach that focuses around nutritious and wholesome food when working with people. I am an advocate for bringing food back to the table and believe that culinary education for both my clients and members of the community will enable them to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Since joining the Port Hope Community Health Centre, I have facilitated food skills classes for all ages and for specific health conditions, accumulating more than 1000 hours of hands-on and demonstration style cooking programs. Regardless of whether I am counselling an individual, teaching a class or cooking for family and friends, my message is always the same: food should be enjoyable and delicious, celebrated daily, and used to fuel and nourish our bodies.
