To manage the student facing resources and services of the ‘Make’ areas in the School of Creative Arts, overseeing a diverse group of technical workshop facilities, studios and retail services. These services are not only bookable teaching facilities but walk in services for any student in the School who has been inducted into the area, with some areas servicing hundreds of students per day. Project manage the end of year degree show exhibition and events. Oversee the technical installations, health and safety, communications, planning and timetable.Manage the day to day supervision of staff work, sickness, appraisals, recruitment, and disciplinary issues. Keep detailed records for budgets, provide risk analyses, formal project timelines, run meetings, research and develop changes to improve service, ensure all of our services meet with appropriate health and safety legislation, develop and maintain relationships across the University as well as with external suppliers, industry contacts, graduates and potential clients. Meet regularly with stakeholders and provide detailed analyses of project progression.

To provide specialist support services in the School of Creative Arts Equipment Loans and Loan Store area. To be responsible for the effective co-ordination and organisation of equipment loans and be conversant with digital film and television, photographic and audio visual equipment. Also providing contemporary professional loan store practice and service technologies, skills that support it, including operating and maintaining camera, photographic and audio visual equipment. To provide technical expertise and specialist support to students, staff and visitors ensuring health and safety, and other legal and procedural requirements are met. To assist in the supervision of work allocation to technical staff, and the management of staff and/or visitors.

To provide technical expertise and specialist support to students, staff and visitors in a teaching/research or central service function, with responsibility for the efficient and safe running and maintenance of laboratories/workshops/studios, or facilities linked to a subject specialism.

Support day to day activity accross multiple areas where required. Develop skills and gain a understanding of process accross 3D Sculpture, Photography, Loan Store, Printmaking, Textiles,Computer Science, Music and 3D Machine Workshop.Develop an ability to adjust to new processes and working environments. Create working relationships with key staff and students quickly and professionally.

Planning, organising, presenting and marketing exhibitions and shows. As well as working closely with individual artists, developing relationships with new artists, and extending relationships with established artists from the gallery.Arranging transportation of work to and from the gallery, both nationally and internationallydeveloping client lists by notifying potential clients of particular works and exhibitions, according to their stated interests.Extending the client database and negotiating sales.Cataloging acquisitions and keeping records and archives,developing and updating the gallery website.Promoting and selling artists’ work, through both exhibitions and personal contacts;keeping up to date with industry developments and market trends.

Casual Technician Assistant:Assisting with the installation and taking down of exhibits. Secure packing and unpacking of work before it is displayed, transported or stored.Preparing the gallery spaces between exhibitions often involving painting, wall building, filling, sanding or plinth building.Visitor Liaison:To welcome all visitors into the gallery and give detailed information about the artists and exhibitions, current and upcoming. Assist with the sales of artworks and the receiving of the money. Prepare mail out for all exhibitions.

Reading scripts and liaising directly with Director and Producers to produce plans, drawings and models of sets. Prepare costing estimates. Develop key relationships with directors, producers, costume designers and lighting/sound staff etc.Attend rehearsals, development shoots and meetings to keep up to date with changes.Work with build team to support all construction work by other workers, while completing a major part of the actual job requirements personally.
