My heroes include many social justice icons who have stood against seemingly impossible odds and continued to struggle and fight the good fight for what is right. I love that when I get up every day, I know that the work I’ll be doing makes life better for people. I care about the issues—the environment, climate, social justice, and I’m grateful that I get to live out my values through my work.For over fourteen years, I’ve delivered nonprofit leadership focused on social justice and transformational organizing. I’ve been instrumental in ushering in a more advanced political analysis, driving grassroots base-building, and developing leaders from grassroots supporters. I have achieved significant financial impact for the organization through expertise in fundraising and grant writing. Polished and influential relationship building skills have helped me bring on and retain significant donors who generously provide financial support. Leadership expertise that drives my success: Creating and communicating a compelling and strategic vision that mobilizes people to take action and helps them understand and believe that their work makes a difference. Writing grants and influencing donors to buy-in and provide ongoing support of the organization’s financial needs. Building consensus around actionable solutions and being a role model to inspire and motivate others to work together toward a shared goal.  Strategically lobbying state government officials on policy positions and policy proposals deemed harmful by the organization's leaders.  Analyzing policy and completing policy briefs, educating legislators, building coalitions, launching media campaigns, and mobilizing grassroots Iowans. Responding quickly in urgent situations in a smart, strategic, calm, and properly measured manner. I am well positioned to serve as a spokesperson on controversial and hot-button issues. Listening and staying engaged in the conversation and asking insightful questions to help people build trust. Handling a "tough" room with many conflicting opinions.
