Working on the phones I answer calls and take down customer details, filing them into the CRM database. Then booking in cleaners for dates that fit with the customers’ needs. Working with other staff members to secure sales has bolstered my interpersonal skills.

On Sundays I was responsible for the opening and closing of the store, aswell as being in charge of the operation of the store during this time. I perfected my latte art and loved serving our happy customers.

In the first and second years of my degree I tutored multiple students ranging from GCSE to A-level, testing my ability to explain different concepts to different skill levels. One student in AS level struggled greatly with mechanics, we focused on this building it up from fundamentals and it was rewarding to see him succeed at the end of the year.

Exercising organizational skills planning social events for students across the department, including a dog walk, pub crawls, board game nights, and the end of year ball. Engaging with students and making them feel welcome at the university. Presenting and heading the Sussex pop-lecture series on new and interesting topics in mathematics presented by lecturers.

I worked over Zoom as a teaching intern. I attended lessons aswell as produced a lesson that was taught to a class. Working in a learning environment was challenging, as different students had different needs. It gave me an insight into what life as a teacher would be like and the challenges faced with online learning.

After initially being taught by a deaf friend, I received a language bursary from the University of Sussex and studied BSL level 201. I Learned important receptive and conversational skills including mirroring, role shift and placement. Having attended multiple deaf pub nights and meet ups, I can speak continuously and have a fluent conversation with a native speaker. I enjoy this because it tests my BSL abilities and allows me to develop a skill I love further. This is a useful skill because it allows me to speak to all kinds of different people and involve myself in a whole different subculture, pushing me to think about people with different lives and life experiences.

I worked as a barista and was responsible for making sandwiches and serving food. I used my positive attitude to ensure customers had an easy experience and I enjoyed chatting to regulars. • I learned to work as part of a small team, communicating clearly what needed doing and taking instructions from my managers.

Supervising the learning of groups of children in my class bolstered my communication skills. This role taught me to be independent and responsible for my actions when explaining maths and science to students.
