About Adam O'Connell

I am a scientist within the Polymer Science Platform at Reckitt, performing early-stage research and innovation for formulations across our brand portfolio. I formulate and characterise in the lab, and use molecular dynamics simulations at the desk, to study formulation behaviour in both product and application, delivering technically superior solutions to consumer problems.Before this I completed a PhD in polymer physics at the University of Leeds, where I studied the behaviour of locust bean gum in solution, through the use of static and dynamic light scattering, bulk rheology, and both passive and active microrheology (particle-tracking, DLS, diffusing wave spectroscopy, and optical tweezers). Here, I also gained experience with techniques such as NMR, SANS, TGA, DSC, and USALS, either directly or through national and international collaborations.Previously, I gained my Masters in Physics from the University of Oxford, where my final year focus was on theoretical and condensed matter physics, with my masters project being on hybrid Lattice Boltzmann simulations of active cellular monolayers.
