My journey into the world of computer-aided design (CAD) began when I acquired my first 3D printer. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a passion, as I found myself completely engrossed in the meticulous process of perfecting designs for printing. This attention to detail naturally led me to explore HBXL CAD software, where I discovered a new avenue to express my creativity and technical skills.While I am currently seeking freelance or remote opportunities as a CAD designer, I am dedicated to daily practice to refine my abilities. I actively use HBXL’s PlansXpress and SketchUp to enhance my skill set, continually striving to expand my expertise in CAD design.My professional background is diverse. After earning a degree in Environmental Science, I worked in recycling centres, contributing to the development of recycling policies for Westminster Council. My interest in research led me back to academia, where I balanced managing a university bar with studying for a Master’s in Research Methodologies.My curiosity eventually shifted towards medical research and the impact of the modern environment on health. This interest guided me to train as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), a role I fulfilled for 15 years with the NHS, ultimately becoming a Senior ODP. My time in the NHS honed my time management, attention to detail, and task-focused skills—qualities that have been invaluable in my entrepreneurial endeavours.Before the second COVID lockdown, I transitioned out of the NHS and launched a sublimation printing business, later incorporating 3D printing. This entrepreneurial experience reinforced my passion for CAD, leading me to enrol in HBXL’s CAD for Construction Skills Bootcamp. This course not only deepened my CAD proficiency but also allowed me to explore environmentally friendly building materials and techniques, which I now integrate into my designs.In addition to my professional pursuits, I am a member of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, where I continuously engage in e-learning modules on topics such as social values, retrofitting, and environmental issues. When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me immersed in 3D design, scuba diving, or practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—activities that all require patience, strategic planning, and precision.I’m eager to connect with like-minded professionals and welcome any advice or opportunities in the field of CAD design.
