At 40 North, I managed the operations of a multi-manager hedge fund platform, with assets under management exceeding $1 billion, in a family office setting. I performed daily cash and position reconciliations, optimized the portfolio financing and securities lending costs, and liaised with the prime brokers and the fund administrator. I worked extensively within Eze Software Order Management System and Analytics, as well as Advent Geneva Accounting System. The portfolio exposed me to domestic and international equities, private equity, bank debt, total return swaps and options.

While working at S3 Partners, the firm was managing over 60 Hedge Fund clients with assets under management ranging from $100 million to $8 billion, with relationships across 12 prime brokers. On a daily basis, I evaluated the clients’ portfolios and identified stock loan transactions to provide savings on the short positions and revenues for the long positions. I had open dialog with the securities lending desks at the prime brokers to receive color on hard-to-borrow and special situation names, which was then compiled into a custom report for each client. I also worked alongside the General Counsel to review Prime Brokerage Agreements and ISDA documentation.

During my two internships, I assisted the equity finance trading desk on daily activities, including reviewing clients long and short portfolios to further advance knowledge of Hedge Fund strategies and identifying potential trading opportunities by type and profitability for the head trader.

MBF Clearing Corporation, at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), provided me with my first official exposure to Wall Street. Throughout the summer I was given the opportunity to work alongside clerks to record and reconcile crude oil and natural gas futures trades.
