Leading the team at Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress. We provide the objective research, planning and policy analysis that helps leaders across the Hudson Valley identify balanced, sustainable and equitable solutions. Our major initiatives focus on housing, main street vitality, infrastructure, transportation, education and government efficiency. Pattern also provides leadership training for mid-career professionals and promotes pathways to leadership for a more diverse cross section of our neighbors.

Managing public affairs for the largest municipal water supply in the United States. My position oversees our interactions with local, national and international journalists, intergovernmental affairs, internal communications, and helps with education programs - all with the goal of helping millions of people to understand how we operate, maintain and protect New York City’s reservoir system.

Taught the advanced reporting class to more than 450 aspiring journalists, focusing on beat development, investigative reporting techniques, and the use of public documents in journalism.

Led a number of research projects for this regional nonprofit in the Hudson Valley, and facilitated our interactions with regional journalists.

Worked as a journalist and bureau chief for this daily newspaper with 80,000-100,000 circulation in the mid-Hudson Valley in New York. Covered crime, courts, municipal beats, the environment and the United States Military Academy at West Point. Earned five Associated Press awards for investigative reporting, breaking news, and continuing coverage.

Worked as the editorial assistant to Roger Kahn, author of “The Boys of Summer” and other award-winning books. I assisted Kahn with the reporting for two of his final books, including the memoir “Into My Own.”
