Full Stack / Cloud Developer working in Tauranga.I joined when the dev team was about 8, since then we've grown to four development teams and the business has gone through some significant growth. I have worked in almost all parts of the system, from the legacy php application (no prior experience with php or laravel), to the newer serverless FaaS stack in AWS. I have been part of the team that has worked on adding many new features, migrating to a Vue front-end with a Service-Oriented architecture, as well as maintaining the legacy monolithic php application. The job so far has found me working with the following technologies:- Serverless- AWS: Lambda, EC2, Cloudfront, Cloudwatch, S3, Cognito, DynamoDb, Appsync- Nodejs- Typescript- Vue- GraphQL- Postman- Php - Laravel- Linear- Github / Git

Was part of the inaugural Systems Reliability Engineering team at Xero. This involved a significant amount of planning and rolling out new processes and tools. In particular, I was heavily involved in rolling out a large-scale open source critical monitoring system (Prometheus) and related tools. Over this time I became very familiar with monitoring and current best practices for alerting and monitoring. This role also involved being on call for incident management, and conducting 'postmortems' on incidents after the fact.

Working in the Performance Testing automation team at Xero, where I was working on development projects. This role required building and maintaining applications in Ruby and C#, creating UIs using D3.js, and performing/planning performance tests at high load using Jmeter and VS Ultimate. Also in this time I did a 3 month rotation in a dev-ops team, using technologies such as Chef, Docker, Selenium and custom tools. Over this period I also gained familiarity with AWS, learning how to deploy systems using EC2 and Cloudformation

Various temping jobs, mostly through GBL Recruitment. In this time I had 2 significant assignments: Ministry of Education: ECE funding. The job involved going over ECE funding applications and verifying that information provided was accurate. Real Estate Agency Association: License renewals. This job involved processing renewal applications and driving the REAA's CRM system. This role was a combination of customer service and data entry

During this time I was travelling around NZ, doing various, mostly outdoor jobs. Places included Hastings, Te Puke, Wellington, Christchurch, Kaikoura and Queenstown, and the work included labouring, fruit picking, car grooming and hospitality work. I decided to do this as I had a strong motivation to travel and to experience the country which I grew up in. Along the way I can say that I exposed myself to many kinds of people and places that I would have had I continued pursuing a long term career.

As an intern in GBS I am exposed to many parts of the business. While working for IBM I have been in a sales support role at the HQ in Wellington and have also been involved in delivery on a major project, working for the Project Management Office. Some of the tools I have learned to use are MS Office, MS Project, Excel, Lotus Notes and several other sales tools. While at IBM I have gained a considerable understanding of GBS's internal processes and have gained valuable experience in administration. I have also gained extensive experience of IBM tools.As the internship is a full-time commitment (ie 40 hours per week for a year), my tenure at IBM has given me significant responsibilities, opportunities, and a great deal of valuable experience.

As a Residential Assistant, my job mostly involved event planning and student advocacy. This job also required me to take a leadership role, as I was personally responsible for overseeing the well-being of a large number of first-year university students. As this was a live-in job, this also required me to take personal responsibility for my conduct as a role model. This also required liaising with the university, and managing my own full-time study while working.
