I am a storyteller at heart, and it informs the work I do, even in roles that wouldn't typically be thought of as having a story to tell.I worked for several years as a video editor, where I often was literally telling a story. All of the content management and workflows the jobs required were all in service to delivering a complete and concise story.My more recent roles have been in the field of education technology--not exactly work that one might think of as requiring storytelling skills. But I believe that managing products and deliverables, working and collaborating with various stakeholders, and implementing content and new technologies all beg the question, "What are we doing and why are we doing it?" Not being able to answer these questions is what leads to difficulties down the road, no matter the task or job at hand. The ability to tell the story of the work I'm doing, whatever it is, allows me to be efficient, caring, and successful when it comes to taking on any challenge.
