Adam leads European consultancy Valcon's 150-strong Consulting Capability within its UK arm. Adam has responsibility for the running of the organisations IP generation via their innovation group and takes direct responsibility for Portfolio Optimisation and Corporate Portfolio Office intellectual property and health-checks.Delivery activities of note include:PMO Manager, MS Amlin Solvency II Programme - June 2016 to PresentAdam is the PMO Manager on this multi-million complex reporting and regulatory requirement programme for one of the Countries largest insurance organisations.PMO Controls & Internal Lead, John Lewis Omnichannel Programme - October 2015-June 2016.Adam was change, continuous improvement and internal lead for the PMO within John Lewis’ flagship Omni-Channel programme. Adam oversaw the continuous improvement of the Programme Governance across this complex business-led customer channel improvement programme that fundamentally re-designed the IT architecture for the organisation. This has included major improvements to the planning, risk and issue and change control aspects of the programme.

Adam has responsibility for the maintenance, expansion and exploitation of P2 Consulting's suite of Intellectual Property. This includes the Service Proposition Catalogue, the PMO Maturity Model, the Portfolio Maturity Model, the Planning Engine, the PMO in a Box, the P2M Methodology, the Delivery Methodology and their associated apps and support systems.

Over this 30 month period Adam was an Account Director for Central & Local Government within Atkins MC with specific responsibility for DWP, Office for National Statistics, Cabinet Office and Transport Systems Catapult. Adam was also proposition lead for all Portfolio Optimisation and Management work. Specific delivery roles of note included:Portfolio Management Office - Transport Systems Catapult (January 2014 – September 2015): Adam oversaw a range of roles within the Transport Systems Catapult (one of the government’s innovation hothouses overseen by BIS) focused on establishing and improving their Portfolio Management Office. These included a range of process and standards design (including lifecycle design, standards design and resource management tool design), procurement and statement of requirement support to procure an ePPPM tool and general planning and PSO support into TSCs major programmes sets.Portfolio Directorate - major capability review & uplift - Office for National Statistics (July 2014 - Sept 2015): Adam led a 4 man team in a full review of the ONS’ capacity and capability to deliver its portfolio of projects and programmes (including the £500 Million Decennial Census) which led to a significant uplift in their Portfolio Resource and capability.CAP-D Programme, Trader Project Review - DeFRA (Sept 2013 - Dec 2013)Adam led a four man team to review the requirements to support Trader within the CAP-D programme and how the governance, business case and the current to-be architecture support these requirements. Adam’s team explored existing gaps and made a range of recommendations to support filling those gaps.

Over this 3 year period delivered a number of cutting edge roles focused on the control of change across Government and the Energy Sector. Some highlights of this period were:Account Director: Energy (July 2011-June 2012) - where Adam oversaw Atkins MCs' work into the energy space (primarily supporting Sellafield and eDF) and was directly responsible for establishing PPM governance and structures over EDF's Lifetime and Fleet Programmes and major improvements to the eDF Capital Projects PMO.Universal Credit Programme PMO Improvement - Department for Work & Pensions. (Sept 2012-June 2013) - where Adam led the team, that flexed between 4 and 8 consultants, directly managed the PMO design and optimisation work as well as filling the roll of Head of Information Management overseeing all dashboard and information reporting within the programme on this £2 Billion flagship government Agile programme.Atkins MC - Graduate Team Lead (January 2011 - June 2013) - Adam led Atkins MCs graduate recruitment team growing intake from 8 to 16 pre annum and overseeing the training and development of these young consultants. On exit this team consisted of some 40 junior consultants delivering significant value to the organisation.

My major focuses over the course of my time as a PC have been in the control of large scale programme & portfolio change - particularly in the central and local government space.My Primary Expertise has been in:-• Portfolio management through diverse local agents – Adam has worked at the cutting edge of delivering central government policy through a portfolio of diverse local agents over the last three years and is a published expert in this area. His national level work in this area has included the DCSF Children’s Centre Programme to all England Top Tier Local Authorities (LAs) and DWP WWEG group to all UK LAs.• Programme & portfolio management office – Adam has advised on and established programme & portfolio management offices and centres of excellence across a number of organisations include Hull City Council, the Qualifications & Curriculum’s Agency and JobCentre Plus. On promotion to grade 7 Adam was made project co-ordinator for the team implementing the EUSD in the UK. This involved managing the project using a benefit realisation approach, identifying both benefits and obstacles of the implementation and ensuring there was ownership for all realisable benefits at the appropriate level. He had particular responsibility for the ministerial and business facing end of the project. Adam ensured industry was aware of their obligations through a series of presentations to representative bodies and their members and by ensuring the website and guidance notes were accurate and informative. He provided succinct briefings (both written and oral) for the Board and Ministers to be used in varied situations as well as FAQ's for the website and responses to the business community.Adam was also division lead on the merging of IR and Customs and Excise (specifically looking at the merging of the revenue collection facilities) and liaised with other members of IR as well as HMT and C&E on a number of potential budget starters/ operational changes

As a graduate Fast Stream recruit into the Civil Service (HMRC) I performed a number of policy and operational roles including Assistant Private Secretary to the Paymaster General (HMT):As part of a two man Private Secretary team to the Paymaster General Adam’s key roles were to provide the Minister with accurate, timely, relevant advice and to ensure that her decisions were communicated promptly to all who needed to know. He had policy responsibility for: the administration of the Inland Revenue, Personal & Business taxation issues, enterprise, closer working between IR and C&E and National Insurance Contribution and NICO issues all of which areas Adam needed a good working knowledge of. He had responsibility for all Parliamentary Questions and Treasury Oral Questions briefing & for supporting PMG in the Commons box in any debates/ Finance Bill clauses within his subject areas or where necessary as well as developing close working relationships with the DWP and C&E.
