Postdoctoral Fellow
As a postdoctoral researcher within the Spacecraft Robotics and Control Laboratory at Carleton University, I explore the use of iterative learning control for the improved tracking of inspection trajectories for spacecraft proximity operations. In parallel, I co-develop the Spacecraft Proximity Operations Testbed at Carleton, the only air-bearing table of its kind in Canada.
Doctoral Candidate
Continuing the work I performed within the Science Future Programmes team at Airbus, I remain a member of the Institute of Flight Mechanics and Control as I work to convert my published papers into a cohesive doctoral dissertation.
Doctoral Candidate
As a doctoral candidate working full-time within the Science Future Programmes department, I co-developed a mode transition architecture for the Drag Free and Attitude Control System of the LISA mission, including requirements definition, estimation & control trades, initial design, and verification through simulation. In addition, I performed a detailed and independent analysis of a highly coupled, nonlinear, and flight-proven actuation model leading to a novel controller / actuation algorithm designed to meet mission-critical dynamic requirements. In the course of these responsibilities I integrated legacy, flight-proven AOCS methods (controllers, estimators) and models (sensors, actuators, dynamics) into a state-of-the-art AOCS offline simulation environment (MATLAB/Simulink/C++) and performed formal verification activities in the time and frequency domains. Finally, I consistently produced high-quality technical inputs for the customer in the form of both formal deliverables (documentation, software, presentations) and informal inquiries.
Navigation Support Office (Esa/Esoc)
As a contractor, I worked full-time in the Navigation Support Office at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) on the development, test, and validation of the Geodetic Reference Service Provider Archive, an ESOC service which calculates and disseminates precise orbits for GPS and Galileo spacecraft using data from ESA’s worldwide network of GNSS receivers.I also conceived and served as the initial developer of the File Transfer and Tracking System (FITTS) which has now been fully integrated within operational GNSS services at ESOC and the Galileo Control Centre, with a focus on reliability, documentation, and flexibility.
Junior Space Engineer
As a contracting engineer, I worked within ADGA's Space Division to grow their presence in the Canadian space sector. I provided technical input to proposals, designed script-based solutions for document and data analysis, and supported ongoing studies of the use of space in the Canadian public service.
Teaching Associate
As a teaching associate, I supported a team project which examined the feasibility of on-orbit services (repair, refuel, removal) using a spaceplane augmented with robotics. Responsibilities included limiting project scope, defining and communicating deliverables, maintaining project direction and schedule, motivating the team, and coordinating expert visits.
Engineering Contractor
As a master’s student, I was contracted to support Magellan as I completed my thesis in an industrial setting. Technical responsibilities included the development and verification of models required for satellite navigation simulations; the design, creation, and validation of a MATLAB-based simulation environment; and extensive documentation of analyses in thesis, code files, and interim reports.
Summer Engineering Student
As a bachelor’s student, I completed eight months of full-time engineering support services at Magellan's main space office in Winnipeg. Highlighted duties included the automation of a temperature-vacuum testing chamber for the RCM spacecraft bus and the electrical check-out of prototype circuit boards for solar array power distribution.
Student Research Assistant
As an undergraduate student, I completed one term of full-time research at the Institute of Space and Atmospheric Studies. I supported the Odin-OSIRIS team by developing C-based algorithms to access the HITRAN database of atmospheric absorption parameters.
