Achieving a First Class Honours degree at harper adams university i have moved on to secure a job as a canine carer to improve my practical skills while working towards my CCAB accreditation which will allow me to work as a fully qualified Animal Behaviourist. I have previously working many years in the Retail indusry working as a shift manager while I studied animal behaviour at University. During my time in retail I learned the importance of active listening and effective communication with customers to help create friendly relationships between ourselves (the company/colleagues) and the locals, while being able to respond to and de-escalate situations. In addition I improved time and team management abilities by ensuring the store was kept up to standards to pass audits. After graduation I have now started to work with dogs within a kennel environment which has allowed me to improve handling abilities of animals while assessing their emotional and physical health when they come into kennels and during their time spent. During my time at DT i have practised various methods of administering medication, handling of animals during routine veterinary check ups, in addition to working of different forms of training - modifying the needs to the animal, and introducing dogs to the public in a variety of different ways to create the initial stages of a bond between potential adopters and the dog, overall this is a very rewarding jobs and only motivates me further to progress as a behaviourist.
