• Extensive experience in Bacteriology with some working knowledge of Virology (particularly related to COVID-19 work including use of POCT and walkaway molecular diagnostic devices such as Hologic Panther, Cepheid GeneXpert, and BioFire Torch Array).• Worked throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in a diagnostic laboratory hub processing SARS-CoV-2 specimens (local and regional), which has included lone night working to process urgent COVID admission screening samples.• Successfully appointed to a progressional specialist Biomedical Scientist post after 18 months, currently nearing completion of my IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Medical Microbiology.• Experience and responsibilities have included analysis and interpretation of a wide range of patient samples by a variety of techniques and reporting of results according to laboratory procedure. • Compliance with ISO15189 for UKAS accreditation. EQA officer with use of QMS. Producing and amending SOP's and technical documents. Verification and validation of new analysers and processes.Roles and Responsibilities include:- Laboratory working bench reading- Compliance with ISO15189- Experience in interpreting results from antimicrobial susceptibility assays, urinary samples, gynaecological samples, fluids and tissue samples, blood culture and CSF samples, respiratory samples etc- Microscopy (e.g. Gram stain, Acridine orange, bright field)- Supervisory role (for laboratory support staff)- NEQAS officer - Use of QPulse quality system and Masterlab LIMS- Involvement in verification and validation work (e.g. Bactec Blood Culture system)- Experience of Category II and Category III laboratory working - IBMS Competence Portfolio MentorSystems used:- Masterlab and QPulse IT software (also use of Microsoft packages)- Sedimax urine sediment analysers- Bruker Maldi-TOF- Tutela monitoring systems- Bactec and BacT alert blood culture systems- Class I and II MSC's - Cepheid GeneXpert- BioFire Torch Array
