With the position change to engineering versus operations, I've moved toward more project oriented workloads with a focus on process documentation and task automation/scripting. I am currently maintaining many of my previous functions as a Network Specialist IV including team training. I am also a primary contributor on a project to change much of the network infrastructure and in doing so, improve network speeds and redundancy capabilities.

This position shifts my focus more toward continuous improvement. As such I'm focusing on more automation, escalation, documentation, process improvement and change control to improve operating efficiency and network reliability.

My primary role is to monitor, report, and resolve network related events. In addition we also configure and deploy Cisco Systems hardware including VoIP and WiFi services. We work with a variety of network hardware from small business and enterprise level to data center equipment; these include software platforms such as IOS, IOS-XE and NX-OS devices. Duties include: · Monitor the network infrastructure of ZB N.A. and its 7 divisions, including 500+ branches and 2 data centers · Work closely with major carriers to diagnose and troubleshoot T-carrier, Ethernet, and optical circuits · Conduct packet capture and data flow analysis to identify application latency and connectivity issues · Collaborate with several departments to troubleshoot issues with routing, switching, firewalls, F5 LTM and VoIP telephones· Perform maintenance on network devices to ensure compliance with security and operational standards· Configure and deploy new equipment and decommission end-of-life hardware · Act as a technical point of contact for infrastructure modifications and planned maintenance· Ensure the successful completion of network changes, site upgrades, and infrastructure enhancements
