Beginning in the seismic industry as a trainee mechanic working on varies survey vessels, I quickly proved my abilities consistently developing and learning new skills every trip, including fault finding, trouble shooting, disassembly, overhaul and rebuild of seismic source guns and their associated electrical equipment. Other responsibilities include splicing of ropes, maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems and their components, high pressure pneumatic systems up to 2000psi and general maintenance of the ships onboard mechanical equipment. Having served time on various vessels I have achieved a knowledge of both trisor and gunlink control systems. Over time, I achieved promotion to a shift leader position giving me responsibility on looking after all said equipment while leading and directing others. I have also been a part of a rigging crew on a new vessel where basic self-taught welding and fabrication skills proved essential and the ability to drive a forklift in a busy ship yard was an invaluable skill. All this was carried out whilst adhering to a strict and stringent HSE policy.

Employed within the project team, my role working as part of a two-man team, involved both deep and light mechanical scheduled maintenance of trams and fault finding where necessary. Bogie overhaul and tram articulation replacements were my main responsibilities. Both requiring the strip down overhaul and rebuilding of various components whilst repairing and rectifying any faults found along the way. The use of basic hand tools and fixed bench equipment i.e. pillar drills etc. has been essential within this role. Whilst also understanding mechanical drawing to ensure equipment has been built to specific safety requirements and strict rebuild criteria. My role also involved both deep and light electrical and mechanical scheduled maintenance of trams and fault finding where necessary.

I am confident and competent working the slip and also driving the remote during recovery/deployment operations. Other responsibilities include splicing of ropes, maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems and their components, high pressure pneumatic systems up to 2000psi and general maintenance of the ships seismic mechanical equipment. I was also given the responsibility of shift leader position on occasion when necessary.
