An older gentleman entered, stood in front of the class, and muttered, “Welcome to accounting land.” Indeed, my first accounting professor referenced this imaginary land over one hundred times that year; it was a persistent phrase that still echoes in my head today. As I grew professionally, I realized he spoke of another world, not occupied by people but by data. What drew me most to the world of accounting was the financial data science involved throughout allprocesses, job security, freedom to travel, and most importantly the ability to help others.As a business consultant, I’ve witnessed firsthand the growth and demise businesses have undergone in uncertain times. Changes over the past decade to environments, laws, and regulations have made staying compliant a challenge for businesses. My knowledge and skills help businesses stay relevant in today's fast-changing world. In my current role, on top of reconciling accounts, posting closing journal entries, and reviewing general ledgers, my main focus is on client relations and retention. Satisfying clients' needs every day is difficult and it is important to do so through transparency and constant communication.Performing analysis to support revenue projects and forecasts is my passion. Helping corporations identify and discover cost-cutting measures is critical to developing and implementing proper tax strategies. For now, though, my focus is on learning. I’ve always had a love for numbers and really enjoy growing both personally and as a professional. Staying ahead of the competition takes aptitude, a positive attitude, determination, and most importantly hard work. These attributes qualify me to embark on the next opportunity life has in store. I hope to empower others to do the same and to continue to strive for excellence.
