Have reviewed companies in a wide range of industries, including biotech, medical devices, technology services, recycled products, alternative energy and mining. In addition to due diligence role, provide primary review of legal documentation with outside counsel prior to final investment decision for each transaction and monitor investment positions of portfolio. Other responsibilities include running investment committee meetings, filing and reviewing beneficial ownership legal documentation with the SEC and interfacing with new and existing sources of deal flow.

Founded and ran Athabasca Financial Inc., a consulting practice specializing in advisory and project oriented corporate finance assignments for small to medium-size, privately held companies and micro- to small-cap, publicly held companies. Worked closely with clients to identify, analyze and address financial and ownership questions that may not be addressed proactively due to limited resources or a lack of financial expertise within client companies. In a separate assignment, reviewed and analyzed descriptive and financial material for private equity firm’s investment opportunities in both private and public companies primarily in the drug delivery and medical devices industries as well as several technology-related industries. Interviewed management teams, evaluated and critiqued business plans, and recommended next steps for both investors and target companies.

One of three original team members that created Chicago office of national practice dedicated to providing objective, independent investment banking and strategic business advice to Ernst & Young clients. Responsible for business origination, client and industry research and facilitation of full-day, interactive brainstorming sessions with owners, chief executives and senior management teams.Session topics included transactional/financial issues, such as capital raising alternatives, merger/acquisition strategies, and IPO considerations as well as strategic/operational issues. Clients ranged in size from large, established public companies to venture stage businesses; industries included health care, information technology, industrial distribution and consumer products.
