In a changing newspaper world, added more responsibilities to my job description with blogging and multimedia work joining the traditional aspects of newspapers — writing, reporting and editing. *Created, planned and wrote high school sports blog that was named Best Blog in Texas by The Associated Press Managing Editors. It received more than five times the web traffic of any other blog at the paper. Provided occasional University of North Texas and Big 12 football coverage along with copy desk and page layout duties. *Spent years developing sources and a deep knowledge of the area’s sports landscape while producing content for a nationally recognized section. *Was a key part of coordinating freelancers and overseeing the daily operation of the sports section as a tenured staff member.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

*Brought on board with NBCDFW to start a high school football blog and later was shifted over to the Blue Star blog covering the Dallas Cowboys. *In 2010, was asked to spearhead a blog covering the Texas Rangers called Red Fever. *Produced six blogs per day — both original and sourced content — and provided insight for area sports fans in the digital platform.

Sherman/Denison, Texas Area

*One of a three-person staff for a daily section with preps emphasis. Beat coverage supplemented by nightly layout duties and occasional Dallas professional sports. *Produced award-winning content while getting to know solid sources in the area.

Wylie, Texas

One of a two-person sports desk for five weekly community papers in the DFW Metroplex. Covered two 5A high schools and was also responsible for all layout of the sports sections.

Fort Worth, Texas

Helped produce page agate copy while taking phone calls from high school coaches on game nights to get game reports in on tight deadlines.

Lubbock, Texas
