I am a tech geek with a psychology degree (plus two computer science degrees). So on the one hand, I am a detail-oriented software engineer who understands and creates quality code that fits into well-thought-out architectures, simple and complex. On the other hand, I enjoy working with people to accomplish great things as a team. I excel at defining and managing right-weight processes that can handle the typical team workflow, but can stay flexible when the inevitable exceptions arise. I don't consider code complete until it is tested and can't imagine life without continuous integration. My strong Java and Spring skills are enhanced by experience in other languages, frameworks, and platforms. My work ethic and the skill set that I've developed over time have resulted in a history of success on Big Data and Web projects. I've worked on projects that are just starting out and that are in maintenance mode, so I recognize the importance of avoiding over-engineering while implementing quality, maintainable solutions.
