Returning to Conversant as COO, I drive strategic initiatives and operational excellence at Conversant Networks. I am responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s operations, including the management of our CDN infrastructure, which continues to deliver high-performance, scalable solutions. I work closely with the executive team to align our technology and business strategies, ensuring seamless delivery and innovation across our services. My role includes optimizing processes, enhancing operational efficiencies, and leading a dedicated team to achieve our growth and performance objectives.

Cambridge Intelligence is a leading company in the data visualisation space. Joining the business in anewly created position I was responsible for the areas of both compliance and security. In this position I applied my hands on technical experience from working with systems and technology to ensure a holistic approach to both aspects of the role.

The VP of Technology role was created due to rapid growth across the business and further dividing responsibilities across the team. At this time I became responsible for the operations, development and delivery of the CDN (Content Delivery Network) service which at peak was delivering in excess of 750Gb/sec and over 440,000 requests per second. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the CTO I was responsible for all of the technical and operational aspects of the delivery side of the Conversant Networks CDN. Leading a team of 17 operations and development staff I worked to promote a DevOps/SRE culture across the business.

With promotion to VP level I became directly responsible for the availability and reliability of the platform with reporting directly to the C level of the business. Due to internal restructuring during this change I became responsible for the direct management of both the support and operations team and the development team and was directly responsible for all these areas in relation to the CDN platform.

Promotion to the network operations and support manager meant I started to become directly responsible for the availability of the platform. During this period my contributions helped the network mature and become more secure, scalable and reliable.

As lead network engineer I became responsible for managing the team responsible for second and third line support and operations of a global cloud services platform. During this period I pushed a DevOps culture into the business and way of working to help the business scale to meet it's challenges.

Providing support to customers and working within an operations role to build a global content delivery network. Much of my time was spent investigating and troubleshooting a variety of problems on Linux based systems related to building a cloud based hosting platform.

Providing cover for the business owner while he was unable to work full time I was responsible for handling a large amount of the day to day business operations.

Taking responsibility for working with support of customers, building and documenting software releases. General systems maintenance on Linux Systems.

Supporting Linux desktops and servers using variety of Linux distributions including Centos and Redhat used for scientific research at the John Innes Centre, Institute for Food Research and The Genome Analysis Centre.

At Saab Specialists I took a small traditional business online, this including creating a strong online presence and brand to drive sales and new business. Activities included launching an ebay store and creating a new website to drive new customer to the business along with carrying out Internet based marketing.

With Reduced Hackers I acted as a contractor on a short term project which improved the networking infrastructure of a small retail chain and enhanced their working procedures by helping them implement VPN and Internet communication solutions allowing them to improve stock taking, ordering and payments for the chain.

As the sole systems administrator of a small UK based ISP and hosting provider I worked managing all the technical aspects for the business. This included providing end user customer support, maintenance and administration of DNS, Linux hosting services such as LAMP stacks, firewall configuration and support, configuration and management of email services.

Systems administration and support of computing facilities and services supporting a special effects company working in the film and TV space. My position supported a variety of areas including TCP/IP network support, maintaining and supporting Linux and Unix based (IRIX) desktops and servers.

Providing implementation and technical support for companies using BMC Patrol and related products. Generic Unix/Linux systems administration and support.

Desktop and server support including supporting approximately 20 different Unix variants. Networking and Linux.

Supporting the 999 call taking system running on bespoke Unix variants and providing generic computing support to end users.

Tasks performed at DMC were establishing an initial online presence for the company. I built the companies first website. Worked with writing documentation and provided IT and office support duties.
