Dr. Smith is a medical director, coach and healthcare consultant living in Austin, Texas. Working at the intersection of medicine and mindfulness, Dr. Smith applies the principles of coaching psychology to both his clinical and coaching work.His workshop, Better At The Bedside, introduces clinicians to both the conceptual and practical framework of applied mindfulness and coaching psychology in clinical medicine. Dr. Smith received his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed residency at the Yale University Primary Care Internal Medicine Program. Dr. Smith is board certified in internal medicine and received his coaching certification from Wellcoaches School of Coaching.Prior to medical school, Dr. Smith worked in Corporate America developing brand management programs for clients such as Herman Miller and Harley-Davidson.Following residency, Dr. Smith worked for Yale Health in a number of clinical and administrative positions including Medical Director of Inpatient and Transitional Care, Assistant Chief of Acute Care Services, Care Coordination and Wellness Programming. Dr. Smith currently serves as Medical Director for Apple Wellness Centers in Austin and Sacramento.
