Oversee software engineering for i-Ready and related digital products including K-8 Math and ELA interactive instruction, diagnostic assessment, student and teacher platform, data platform, and learning games - in use by over 9 million students. Our SaaS platform delivers over 100 million hours of standards-aligned, digital learning to American schoolchildren every year. Built out engineering capabilities in digital learning, adaptive engines, rich content authoring, big data platform, and real-time data collection. Launched research lab investigating product concepts in Natural Language Processing, augmented reality, machine learning (supervised learning, reinforcement learning), and microservices. Technologies include JavaScript (ES6, React, Redux, CreateJS), HTML/CSS, Java, Spring, Spark, Scala, Kafka, MemSQL, Swift/iOS, RESTful APIs, AWS/cloud-based platform technologies (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, Dynamo, S3, etc.), micro-services, and assorted web frameworks.

Led technology strategy and architecture for all Staples eCommerce platforms, systems that transacted over $11B USD in revenue annually, across 26 countries globally. Led selection and implementation of an open web technology architecture to migrate off of packaged eCommerce implementations. Technologies included HTML5/JS(angular)/CSS, Node.JS, MongoDB, Java, Hibernate, MySQL, and others.Focused on new platforms, cloud strategy, Search, API strategy, performance engineering, disaster recovery, personalization, tools and monitoring, CMS, and others. Technologies include Java EE, Node.js, DB2, RESTful API, Oracle, Websphere/Websphere Commerce, Endeca, Akamai, MongoDB, and others.

Helped lead the organization through a 4x increase in capital projects (from $8MM to $34MM annually), supporting over 60 projects annually, and migrating from quarterly to bi-weekly releases.Managed an engineering team in US and offshore of over 100 individuals, delivering online features in mobile and desktop for sites booking over $10M USD daily, and $1.5B annually. Oversaw engineering for the launch of the first Staples.com mobile site (named Top Mobile Retail site in Mobile Commerce Daily in 2011) and launch of Staples first iOS, Android, and dedicated iPad apps.

Lead Java engineer, responsible for successful re-architecture of WTH's web-based call center application which supported white label bookings for Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, and many other brands.

President and co-founder of Chalk Creek Software, a custom development startup specializing in web systems for clients including US Air Force, Harvard University, State Street Bank, and the New York Times Company.Successfully grew revenue over 650% in 3 years and led to a successful exit.

Led web application migration from PERL to Java / J2EE.

Led the development of the first personalized mobile portal in the US.Technologies include Java EE, WAP/WML, HTML, JS.Co-developed MyWay's J2EE platform and designed migration path from Microsoft ASP.
