Primary responsibility for Member and Community Relations

Four main areas of experience: advising on investigations of suspected competition law infringement; advising leading industry players on significant market investigations and their consequences; ensuring my clients'​ commercial agreements and trading practices were concluded and conducted in compliance with competition law; and devising and implementing strategies to secure the approval of mergers and joint ventures.I defended clients in over a dozen dawn raids before the UK and EU competition authorities (including those by sector regulators), and I had significant experience in advising clients on issues relating to abuse of dominance. Examples of my latter day experience include:Representing a "Big Six"​ energy firm in the Competition and Markets Authority's investigation of the energy market;Representing Severn Trent Group plc in relation to Ofwat's investigation alleging abuse of dominance in the analytical services market, securing case closure following the offer of commitments;Securing a marker for Type A immunity for a client following an application in a case involving the disclosure of strategic and commercially sensitive pricing information;Securing first phase merger clearance for Mueller Industries Inc.'s acquisition of certain assets from KME Yorkshire Limited;Securing a significant reduction in liability for a client as a result of a successful appeal to the EU's General Court against the European Commission's decision in the copper fittings cartel investigation.
