I help to organise the International Medieval Congress, with a particular focus on co-ordinating session rooms. Drawing medievalists from over 60 countries, with more than 2,000 individual papers as well as public concerts, performances, excursions, bookfairs and more, the International Medieval Congress (IMC) is Europe’s largest forum for sharing ideas in medieval studies. As part of my role I am responsible for coordinating technical support for our 48 concurrent session rooms, and manage a team of around 30 session room organisers during the congress itself. I work closely with the virtual session room organiser team to ensure that a hybrid conference is delivered.

Postgraduate Workshop Tutor / Sessions Lecturer
University Of Hull Sep 2021 - Feb 2022
    Hull, England, United Kingdom
I worked as a Postgraduate Workshop Tutor on the first year undergraduate History module 'A History of Freedom'. I was involved in the preparation and delivery of workshop sessions for the module, teaching topics from Ancient Greece through to the South African Constitution, on the wider theme of Freedom. I was also able to bring specialist knowledge on a week devoted to the Magna Carta. My role entailed supporting students' transition to Higher Education after the severe disruptions to their learning brought about by the COVID 19 pandemic. My duties included preparation, namely attending the 1 hour Monday plenary sessions for the module, and to complete seminar reading in advance of Tuesday morning workshops. I helped to deliver two workshops each Tuesday, both in a supporting and leading role. I led full group discussions, and helped to facilitate small group discussions within sessions. I was also responsible for marking formative and summative assessments throughout the course, ranging from 300 word weekly tasks to a longer 1000 word summary piece. For this final task I had to promptly deliver feedback during the busy Christmas assessment period. I provided 3 hours per week in which students could drop in and see me to discuss feedback, and responded promptly to student emails. I also used this time to follow up student queries left on the Canvas comments feature.
