At the age of sixteen in 1987 I started off my career as an apprentice overhead linesman with Eastern Electricity carrying out numerous roles with them, mostly within the new connections department. This gave me an early introduction into customer relations and project management. After 11 years with EEB and becoming one of their youngest SAP's, I decided to spread my wings (pun intended) and go it alone.In 1998 I undertook my first helicopter power line inspection and have never looked back. 26 years later and some 16,000+ flying hours, I have inspected over 500,000km of overhead lines networks throughout the UK and Ireland. One of the most rewarding periods in my career with PDG Aviation to date was to help develop our mobile data capture software that we use to collect asset information.
