From January 2024, I joined the board as a Director to help the team grow and achieve the organisations social mission. Taking effect from November 2024, I was elected to Chairperson. Wilderness Tribe CIC was set up following the growing need for people to reconnect with each other and nature. The Wilderness Tribe harness the power of nature and connections to overcome social isolation, improve wellbeing and build peoples resilience.Recent work includes policy revision and appointment of management positions and organisational review, restructure and development.

As the Access and Participation Manager & Social Capital Lead, I sit on the Directorates Heads of Service Group, driving transformative initiatives in alignment with the University's Access and Participation Plan (APP). My role focuses on enhancing student access, fostering active participation, and nurturing social capital to create a more inclusive educational environment.Key Responsibilities:Access and Participation Initiatives:Develop and manage impactful projects in line with the University's APP, ensuring a strategic approach to increasing access for students from diverse backgrounds.Collaborate closely with colleagues to implement comprehensive support structures for students across all levels, with a specific emphasis on underrepresented groups, including care leavers, young adult carers, estranged students, and those from low-participation neighbourhoods.Social Capital Leadership:Hold a pivotal institutional role as the lead for the operational development and implementation of the Social Capital principle within the citizen student strategy.Spearhead strategic planning and execution of activities aimed at cultivating social capital, fostering a sense of community and connectivity among students.Design and implement integrated initiatives and standalone opportunities to enhance social capital, contributing to the holistic development of students.My role as the Access and Participation Manager & Social Capital Lead reflects a commitment to fostering an inclusive educational experience that transcends traditional barriers, promoting not only access and participation but also the development of strong social capital within our student community.
