Director Of Technology
CurrentTolland Public Schools is composed of nearly 500 staff members, 2600 students, and 3000 devices. As the Director of Technology, I manage a five member department as well as consultants and interns. I planned and oversaw the migration from Novell to Active Directory and eventually to Azure AD, Sharepoint, and Intune for a fully cloud-managed environmnet that lets staff work from anywhere. As part of this migration, I virtualized the five previous data centers to one consolidated data center as well as a disaster recovery location. To support our bring-your-own-device initiative, I implemented a managed WiFi infrastructure with authenticated staff access and secure guest access. I have considerable experience in migrating to cloud-based services to reduce cost, enhance uptime, and conserve IT resources, including Office 365 and Google Workspace. All of these required managing the requirements of diverse stakeholders with needs ranging from simplicity of use and training to security and reliability. During my time in Tolland I implemented a formal help desk system, greatly expanded IT service offerings, increased system uptime, and began a training and certification routine for IT staff. I serve on the District’s Leadership Council, Technology Advisory Board, and attend Board of Education meetings as needed.
