About Adam Webber
While working at an assisted living facility, I developed an interest in gerontology. I enjoyed working with older adults, but I was troubled by the challenges they and their families often encountered. Accessing the appropriate level of care and important, expensive supplies and equipment was a struggle for many. I felt that the situation could and should be improved for our elders.To pursue a career in gerontology, I enrolled in a BPA program with a major in Human Services at Athabasca University. During my studies, I noticed a significant lack of research on the experiences of trans older adults in Canada. This concerned me greatly, especially because I am trans and understand the struggles many trans individuals face in our society. I have now completed a BA (Hons) Spec in Gerontology, where I focused much of my work on trans and non-binary older adults.
