At Camp Fitch YMCA, I spent 2 months working with kids from many different age groups, mostly with kids aged 6-7 and 10-12. I was responsible for ensuring these kids all had a great time at summer camp, as well as ensuring they all had food to eat, all knew what activities to sign up for and where the had to go for these activities, and to ensure they went to bed on time. Working with these kids was probably the toughest but most rewarding work I have ever done. I learnt a lot from these kids who saw me as a role model, and I had the opportunity to present leadership skills and mentoring to them. I also had the opportunity to work with so many amazing people at camp. These people all came from different cultures, backgrounds and countries from all across the globe. We were able to share ideas of how to create fun games for the kids, we helped each other when times got tough and always pushed each other to do our best. The friendships I developed with these people have been some of my closest friendships ever and it encourages me to return and give this job another go next summer.
