Lacked the technical knowledge for a permanent position.Age 24: Joined a summer program as a PM, collaborating with mobile app, web, design, UX, and finance teams to develop a software product that addressed a specific community issue. Our product secured 3rd place.Age 25: The CEO of the startup I interned at brought me on as their first Product Manager and 4th hire at a new startup. We launched an on-demand home services mobile app & B2B dashboard. Designed the first iteration of the dashboard, leading to its later acquisition by a major insurer. Developed and rolled out a system connecting clients to tradesmen, scaling from 10 jobs per day to 100+. Learned a lot.Age 26: Moved to a remote location to help friends launch their eco-tourism brand. Developed their brand guidelines.Age 27: Returned to the city I was in before and got into software sales. Lasted 3 months. Didn’t believe in the product.Age 28: Started an ad agency, offering everything to no one. It failed.Age 29: Joined a small events company as CMO just before they were acquired. Spent 1000+ hours learning digital marketing online because I lacked the hard skills. Got the job anyway.Age 30: Wore every hat in event marketing. Learned a lot. The founder taught me speed.Age 31: I was spreading myself too thin. Focused on doing one thing well. Increased marketing-generated revenue 8X and email-generated revenue 20X in 6 months.Age 32: Identified a gap in the business’s sales-led approach and pitched a content-product-led solution to the CEO. Was given a budget and a new job.Age 32: Asked by the CEO to become Head of Marketing. Now leading a fully-fledged team for the first time. On we go…My day job: Head of Marketing at VUKA Group where together with my team we’re implementing sales funnels and a content-product-led approach to event marketing. VUKA Group hosts trade exhibitions and conferences in green economy, retail, energy, mining, mobility, and the newest addition in The Global Trust Project where I am Head of Growth. My most important skill to which I bang my own drum: I’m an incredibly fast learner.
